What is Cialis ( Tadalafil )?
Cialis ( Tadalafil ) is in a class of medications known as PDE-5 inhibitors, which are used to treat cases of male impotence.
How do you pronounce it?
Cialis is pronounced "see-AL-iss" or "see Alice".
How does it work?
Cialis acts in the same way as Viagra, by blocking an enzyme called phosphodiesterase-5, or PDE-5. This helps the smooth muscles in the penis relax and widen, which allows for more blood to enter. As a result, you gain erections faster and easier.
How well does it work?
Cialis can be taken as little as 30 minutes prior to sexual activity and the effects can last for up to 36 hours. Some have dubbed it the "weekend pill" due to it's long lasting ability. Please be aware that Cialis like Viagra and Levitra does not cause an erection unless the person taking it is sexually aroused.
How does Cialis compare with Viagra?
Cialis unlike Viagra can be taken with or without food and it's action is quicker and effects last much longer.
Who can not use Cialis?
Men taking any form of nitrates (often used to control anginal chest pain) should never take Cialis, as the combination may cause an unsafe drop in blood pressure. Men taking medicines called "alpha blockers" (sometimes prescribed for prostate problems or high blood pressure), with exception of Flomax (tamsulosin HCl) 0.4 mg once-daily, should not take Cialis. This combination could cause a significant drop in blood pressure.
