Avodart ( Dutasteride ) is a new dual 5 alpha-reductase inhibitor made by GlaxoSmithKline.
Avodart is right now only approved for treating BPH ( Benign Prostate Hyperplasia ) which is the same condition that
Proscar is used for, however, GSK in December 2006 embarked on a Phase 3 6 month study in Korea in an
attempt to gain regulatory approval for Avodart to treat Male Pattern Baldness. Avodart has already been shown in a previous
study to grow hair but GSK at the time did not pursue regulatory appproval. Basically, Avodart works and everybody knows it
but we have to wait for some bureaucrats to rubberstamp it to make it official. And while the slow wheels of goverment turn...
you are losing hair!
So what is the difference between Dutasteride and Finasteride? Dutasteride
inhibits the activities of both the type 1 and type 2 5AR enzymes unlike Finasteride which only inhibits
type 2. These enzymes are responsible for the conversion of testosterone into DHT ( dihydrotestosterone ). DHT is the primary cause of prostate
growth and hair loss and Dutasteride decreases levels of DHT by up to 90 percent after only two weeks making it a very powerful weapon
against hair loss and BPH.
All of our Avodart is manufactured in France by GlaxoSmithKline Group and comes foil sealed in boxes of 30 capsules.
Tips...
To increase absorption of Dutasteride and help avoid any loss due to digestion; preferably take on an empty stomach ( officially Dutasteride can be taken with or without food ) with a glass of grapefruit juice. Grapefruit juice contains substances which inhibit certain digestive enzymes that break down Dutasteride thus boosting ( more or less doubling ) your bloodsteam uptake of the drug.
